What we do
Based in Oslo, Norway, Vespka AS provides marine claims consultancy services to the shipping, international trade, insurance and audit sectors.
Our work includes handling all aspects of marine claims for our clients, supporting auditors, training staff, establishing claims systems and claims handling protocols. We also support our clients with background research, asset identification and advisory services.
Depending upon our clients’ requirements we integrate directly with their existing claims infrastructure and service providers at the client’s site, or deliver our service(s) remotely. We also provide a fully outsourced claims service.
How we do it
We specialise in handling P&I and FDD claims. We have extensive experience with handling complex claims including; casualties, pollution incidents, wreck removals, constructive total losses, crew injuries/sicknesses/abandonments, collisions, fines, cargo claims and claims in respect of demurrage, dispatch, freight, underperformance etc.
Having handled marine claims arising in some of the most challenging jurisdictions around the world, we leverage both our experience and a global network of local contacts and service providers with specialist practical, technical and legal knowledge of pursuing and defending against marine claims in their jurisdictions.
As a fully independent claims consultancy we can tailor our service to the client’s specific requirements.
Who we are
Jaime van der Eb is the Managing Director of Vespka AS. Prior to establishing the company, Jaime worked in dry cargo chartering in London and Hamburg, for an international law firm in London and Geneva and for the Greek, German and Norwegian offices of an IG insurer. Most recently he established and ran the marine claims service of a fixed premium P&I/FDD provider for six years. Jaime is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, The Bayes (formally Cass) Business school and BPP Law School.
